Bootscharter in Portugal · Isla 40 in Portimao / Marina de Portimao — “YOLO” — (2021)

YOLO is a 2021 Fountaine Pajot Isla 40 based in Portimão, Portugal—a gateway to the Douro River estuary, the Algarve coast, and the shallow lagoons of the Eastern Atlantic. This five-cabin catamaran sleeps ten guests across four bathrooms, making her ideal for multi-family groups or close friends seeking space without compromise. The dual-hull design delivers genuine stability whether anchored in an exposed bay or moored stern-to a Portuguese village quay, while the shallow draft opens access to sandbank anchorages and beach landings that monohulls cannot reach. Living aboard YOLO means spread-out comfort. The saloon runs the full width of the bridge deck with 360-degree views, while separate cabins—each with private heads—let everyone retreat for privacy. The cockpit design protects you from Atlantic swells or trades you stability for panoramic seating. Twin trampolines spanning the hulls forward become the heart of deck life: a place to read, watch dolphins, or simply surrender to the Iberian sun before evening aperitifs. From Portimão, a week's cruise takes you north into the sheltered Douro, south along the limestone cliffs and grottoes of Carvoeiro and Lagos, or east towards the quieter beaches of the Ria Formosa. The catamaran's beam and shallow draft mean you'll anchor where single-hulled boats cannot, finding peaceful overnight stops in waters most charter fleets never reach. This is bareboat sailing with genuine freedom.
