Bootscharter in SE Asia · Lagoon 420 in Koh Chang — “Exit Strategy” — (2008)

Koh Chang's protected waters and island-studded horizon make it an ideal base for the Exit Strategy, a 2008 Lagoon 420 built for exactly this kind of cruising. Four cabins and four bathrooms mean your group spreads comfortably across eight berths, with each cabin offering privacy and the wide-hulled design ensuring good natural light and airflow even in humid tropical heat. The saloon sits centrally, connecting galley and social space, while the cockpit gives helmsman and crew clear sightlines in either direction. Two hulls change what's possible from a week anchored here. The catamaran's shallow draft—a defining advantage over single-hulled boats—lets you nose into narrow bays and run aground on sandy bottoms without consequence, accessing anchorages deep in limestone formations where monohulls cannot follow. The beam between those hulls delivers rock-steady stability at anchor, so you're not swinging and rolling with every breath of wind; no heel means drinks stay where you put them. For families or groups of friends, the wide platform creates natural gathering points: trampolines strung between the bows for lounging, an open foredeck for morning coffee, generous side decks for movement between cabins and cockpit without climbing over each other. From Koh Chang, you can work south toward the Cambodian coast and its submerged reefs, drift between Thai marine park islands, or simply island-hop along the coast, anchoring each night in a different bay. The Exit Strategy's twin diesel engines and proven design handle this rhythm reliably, freeing you to focus on what matters—the water, the light, and whatever you've come here to find.
